Valley View Hospital receives national award for patient care from ...
Valley View Hospital may need to do some remodeling. It may need a larger display area at the rate it keeps receiving awards. This month, Valley View is one of five hospitals nationwide and the only one in Colorado designated as a Planetree Patient-Centered Hospital for its ongoing efforts in placing patient care as the top priority. And this prestigious distinction has Valley View Chief Executive Officer Gary Brewer smiling. "It's about changing the culture of the hospital and making the patients' comfort our first priority," Brewer said. "This (award) tells us about the culture at the hospital, and it speaks volumes about the physicians, caregivers and support staff who work here." The program is based on core objectives focused on patient care set by Planetree affiliate hospitals.

Daniel Craig Is a Write-In James Bond Favorite
Daniel Craig was looking as dapper as James Bond should on the set of Bond 22 in London on Friday afternoon. We don't see a lot of Mr. Craig around these parts, but it sounds like some of you could use a little more 007 in your lives. He was a write-in candidate for guy you want to see more of in 2008 and this new Bond film was a commenter choice on big movie you most look forward to this year. Hey, if we're lucky there'll be more Bond-y manjoyment for all of us in the new year. .
Frank Rich
As a devotee of Chris Matthews, I'd point out a couple new trends on Hardball. A, he's been using profanity, saying "damn" a lot and "bastards," usually about our failed foreign policy; and B, he's trying to give the neocons their comeuppance, but isn't able to. The trends merged last week when he said to Frank Rich, "Dammit, that's what a leader's supposed to do, avoid the traps people are leading him into" (that's not verbatim, but its close) in faulting Bush for invading Iraq and dismissing the "bad intelligence" canard. Matthews's great virtue, and limitation, is that he's so street-smart. He has political understanding and shrewdness in his fingertips. And so he recognizes the continued effectiveness, politically, of Bush's idea: the way we fight terrorism is over there, not here, and aggressively and unilaterally; that will make America safer.
